The Mission of the World Oyster Society (WOS) is to be an instrument of goodwill, friendship and cooperation for all who have some linkage to oyster research, production and use anywhere in the World. Aiming to achieve this mission, I found WOS in July, 2005 and served as President for 17 years, and it has 961 members spread over 50 countries/areas located in all continents where oysters live. I am proud that my efforts have achieved some success in terms of providing and solidifying the foundation of WOS, though I still have a lot left to do for the further development.
Unfortunately, however, I have to step down as President for health reasons, that is, aging has slowed me down physically, but my view of life is still very positive.
I strongly expect that all members will play an active role in the further development of WOS under the excellent leadership of the new president and keep the WOS’s key message “Let the sea live. Let us live with the sea” for young and old to embrace at this time for our survival.
Finally, I really appreciate the support and cooperation that all members gave me until now, looking forward to seeing all of you at our next symposium.
