Ms. Jill Coates

Jill Coates (with her family, husband Michael and son Jedd) has owned and operated an oyster farm in South Australian oceanic waters, Coffin Bay and more recently Streaky Bay for over 25 years. She has enjoyed a long career in education in South Australian Independent and State schools, including leadership roles in secondary Mathematics, (undertaking a review, co-writing the recommendations, then developing and implementing revised Mathematics Curriculum for Senior Secondary Assessment Board 2000-02 ) and finally as Principal of a regional school for the last 8 years of her career in education.

Since 2011 Jill has worked for and now manages (since 2013) a not for profit organization (Eyre Futures Inc) which works predominantly with Indigenous youth and Communities to support effective transitions for youth to education, training and or employment.

Board Memberships and Representation

Jill has presented to the
•  SA Parliamentary Inquiry on Natural Resource Management in 2014, and chaired and presented at the 
•  World Aquaculture Conference, Adelaide June 2014, Policy and Regulations session and
•  World Congress of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Qingdao, China 2015, Mollusc and Crustacean Session.

Jill and husband Michael successfully co-designed and built Tanonga Luxury Eco Lodges on their property Tanonga at Charlton Gully, South Australia (opened in 2009).
