Broad general management experience gained from involvement in small management teams running medium/large not for profit community based organisations. Extensive financial management experience specialises in benchmarking, financial reporting, business and project management. Excellent track record in stakeholder management, people based negotiation and achievement.
A CPA for more than 30 years with experience in planning, developing and implementing practical accounting and administrative solutions for complex organisational problems.

CURRENT POSITION

Managing Partner – Pacific Estate Oysters (June 2006 to date)
Pacific Estate Oysters (PEO) grows approximately 2.5 million oysters on 20 Hectares of water on the spit in Stansbury on Yorke Peninsula.
PEO is a specialist on-grower providing juvenile oysters to all oyster growing regions in SA including Coffin Bay, Smoky Bay and Kangaroo Island.
PEO is a partnership between myself and my wife which we started in 2006.

PREVIOUS POSITIONS

Business Manager – Mercedes College (June 1999 to February 2016)
Mercedes College is a major private school of 1230 students and 800 families in the Eastern Suburbs of Adelaide.
Turnover of AUD $25.1m including AUD$6.9m in State and Commonwealth Education Grants. The College employs 140 FTE staff.
Responsible to the Principal of the College for the management of all non-academic operations including:
•  Chief Finance and Operational Manager – Preparation of Financial Reports for   governing Council and external agencies including audit liaison;
•  Management Reporting including Budgeting and Budgetary Control;
•  Administration and Clerical, Educational Support staff;
•  Asset Management – Facilities and Grounds Maintenance;
•  Project Management;
•  Contract Management;
•  Capital Works and Development;

In addition, to these direct responsibilities, I had a key role in all facets of the Colleges operations through multi-disciplinary management teams including:
• Marketing and Development;
• Work Health and Safety; 
• Strategic Planning; 
• Human Resources.

The Position also had a number of Governance and Statutory responsibilities.
To fulfil those responsibilities I attended meetings of the Governing Council, (and Executive Officer), member of the College Finance Standing Committee and a member of the Marketing and Development Standing Committee.
A hallmark of the role is one of community liaison and team building. Mercedes College is first and foremost a community based organisation that adopts and uses business principles, because it is efficient and effective to do so.

INDEC Consulting – Senior Consultant

Prior to Mercedes College I was employed as part of consulting teams in organisation change and rationalisation.
Responsible for the planning, implemenation and management of projects requiring analytical and technical skills of a high order. This includes project control and execution, preparation of presentations and project related reports. Assist in the management of consulting teams, supervise, direct and control the work of professional consultants under my control.
Provide specialist advice in due diligence, corporate governance, operational review, financial analysis and modelling, financial statement preparation and management reporting, productivity measurement, benchmarking, asset utilisation, process control and business process re-engineering in heavy engineering, building and construction and rail related industries.

Chair – South Australian Oyster Research Council Pty. Ltd. (SAORC)

SAORC is the research and development arm of the South Australian Oyster Industry and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the peak industry body representing oyster growers in South Australia.

Director – South Australian Oyster Growers Association Inc. (SAOGA)

SAOGA is the peak body for Oyster Growers in South Australia. Liasion with politicians and bureaucrats at the highest levels of Executive Government.

Seafood Industry Rep – Marine Innovation South Australia (MISA)

(October 2010 to December 2015)
MISA, an initiative of the South Australian government, brings together South Australia’s top aquatic institutions and research scientists to pool resources and knowledge, and grow our seafood industry through research.

Oyster Industry Leadership – National
Director – Oysters Australia Ltd. (January 2012 to September 2015)

A Foundation Director of Oysters Australia (OA), OA is the peak industry organisation representing oyster growers around Australia. It has an advocacy as well as a research and development function covering issues of national importance to the oyster industry.
OA is a partnership between Industry and the Federal Government through the FRDC – Fisheries Research and Development Corporation.
The Oyster Australia Consortium is a body made up of representatives of all Oyster Growing States – SA, Tasmania, NSW and Qld.

Director – Australian Seafood Industries Ltd. (April 2014 to October 2015)

Australian Seafood Industries is an Oyster Industry owned selective breeding programme. ASI is funded through as compulsory levy on sales of hatchery produced Pacific Oyster seed in Australia.
ASI is jointly owned by the Oyster growers in South Australia and Tasmania.
The Board is responsible for the Strategic direction of ASI and the development of a detailed business plan to support the introduction of an industry levy.
