The Chinese chapter aims to increase the role of international cooperation in research program on oyster development to promote China’s opening up to the outside world and boost the oyster industry development in China.
Oyster culture in China has been mainly performed by four species of Crassostrea gigas, C. angulata, C. ariakensis and C. hongkongensis. The Chinese chapter will assess the oyster production in main regions along the coast of China every two years.
The Chinese chapter will gather and disseminate scientific and technical information on oysters to achieve sustainable development of culture industry in China.
The Chinese chapter will increase the number of members of the World Oyster Society (WOS) by 20% over the next five years, and try to sustain student membership to be at least 20 % of the total membership.
The Chinese chapter will make efforts to establish a sponsored system, and manage website individually to provide strong and varied support services to membership.
